MY STORY
I was born in Liverpool, the 3rd of 4 kids, to a teacher-dad and stay-at-home mum. When I was 4, we moved to Ontario. While it was intended to be a permanent move, there were a few factors that played in our return to the UK after just 3 years.
But they were informative years, and deep memories were imprinted in my mind – from grape Kool-Aid (unheard of in England!), lazy days by the river; to endless friends and fun. I returned to the UK at age 7 already missing Canada; and growing up, the only thing I wanted to do was to move back here (blame it on the Kool-Aid!)
A series of wild events led me to meeting a lovely English lady who had moved from England to Canada many years before, and she invited me to come and be her English Nanny (yes, I answer to Mary Poppins as well!). And so, in 1993, I packed up 2 suitcases, had $20 in my pocket, and arrived in Tsawwassen.
FINDING MY WAY
After nannying for several years, I moved into the medical field and from there I met my husband, and we were married in 1999. We had 3 boys (Noah, Caleb & Levi) and I stayed at home to look after them.
Following my gut instinct that I was going to be left to raise my kids as a single mum, I got licensed as a REALTOR® in 2008, and my husband did indeed leave in 2009.
What followed were 4 years of desperation – navigating life as a single mum with 3 boys while trying to find my way in a new career for which I really wasn’t prepared for.
By 2012, I was near bankruptcy and while my Dad told me to “get a proper job” (bless him!), I knew that instead of quitting, I needed to dig deeper. And so I did.
THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED
There are over 5,200 REALTORS ® in the Fraser Valley, and I am proud to rank 10th*, especially given my very humble beginnings. It’s not been an easy journey, but it’s been a fulfilling one with many deep and on-going friendships built along the way with colleagues, clients and business partners.
My goal has always been to stand out from the crowd and be the best I can be – to go above and beyond; to be innovative; to continually educate myself so I can better advise; to serve my clients humbly, and to do it all authentically, ethically and honestly.
This has translated into being a Top Producer for years, including Top 1% in the Fraser Valley*, Top 2% in Canada**, Langley’s Best REALTOR® award,*** recipient of the Professional of the Year Award and many more awards and accolades.
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
This may sound cliché, but I can assure you it’s not! I really, really love the people I meet along the way. Most of my clientele are either repeat or referred to me – the highest compliment I can receive – and the vast majority become friends.
I also love to do a good job, exceeding expectations and making dreams come true!
